Is there Uber in Capilla del Monte?
No No Uber or Cabify. People use remises (radio taxis) by phone or WhatsApp, with a fixed fare per destination.
Cash only. Turbo Taxi / Radio Taxi Turbo: 03548 545323 or 481654, daily 6 am to midnight, at Rivadavia 620 next to the bus terminal; they do airport transfers and excursions. Remis Centro: 03548 481844. Remisería Capilla: 03548 481412 / 482333, 7 am to 11 pm. Radio Taxi Nueva Cerro: 03548 482300. Radio Taxi Adrián: 03548 483128. Downtown is walkable; to the sights you go by taxi, car, bike or tour: there is no city bus.
Are there ATMs?
Yes Yes: Banco Nación (Av. Pueyrredón 438, two ATMs) and Bancor (Rivadavia 498 and San Lorenzo 141). All on the Link network.
Banelco cards pay a fee and foreign cards have low limits. On long weekends and in high season they run out of cash: bring money before coming. Almost every shop takes QR, Mercado Pago and cards; you can also withdraw cash at the Cordiez supermarket and the YPF station. Taxis and many river beaches are cash only.
Is there CNG and petrol?
Yes Yes. The YPF "Estación del Cerro" on RN 38 km 82 has regular and premium petrol, diesel and CNG.
It is practically the only station in town (tel. 03548 482556). Fill up before going to Los Terrones or Ongamira, or continuing to Cruz del Eje.
Getting here by car →Is there a train to Capilla del Monte?
Yes Yes, the Tren de las Sierras arrives daily from Córdoba, changing at Cosquín. Pretty and cheap, but slow: about 5 hours.
Outbound: Alta Córdoba 06:50 → Cosquín 09:52, Cosquín 10:10 → Capilla 12:20; and Alta Córdoba 13:15 → Capilla 18:32. Return: Capilla 07:45 → Alta Córdoba 13:02 and Capilla 13:45 → Alta Córdoba 19:30. Córdoba–Capilla fare $7,000 (since June 2026). Buy at the ticket office, on board or at webventas.sofse.gob.ar. Confirm times before travelling.
All ways to get here →Are there direct buses from Buenos Aires and Rosario?
Yes Yes, daily. From Retiro it is 10 to 14 hours; from Rosario, 8 to 10.
There are also direct buses from Mendoza, San Juan, La Rioja, Mar del Plata and the whole Punilla Valley. Schedules, prices and the link to buy are in the tickets section.

No No. The nearest is Córdoba (Ambrosio Taravella), about 85 km away.
There is no direct bus from the airport: take the AeroBus to the Córdoba bus terminal (about 45 minutes, hourly) and then the Sarmiento bus to Capilla, or a direct taxi of an hour and a half.

Yes River yes, several: the Calabalumba and its river beaches. Sea, no.
La Toma (at the Uritorco base, 3.5 km, open all year, with pools and camping), Los Mogotes and Paso del Indio (RN 38, 3 km, free entry), Calabalumba (spring pools, free), Los Paredones (free) and El Cajón dam (free, fishing without motor). In summer rivers can rise suddenly with a storm upstream: with an alert, stay out.

No Almost never. At 980 m winter lows average around 5 degrees and drop below zero some nights; snow makes the news when it happens.
Winter in Capilla is dry and sunny: in June and July it rains 8 to 10 mm in the whole month. On the Uritorco summit, near 2,000 m, some snow can fall in very cold winters.
The climate month by month →Are there pumas?
Yes Yes, there are pumas in the hills, but meeting one is extremely rare. In 2013 one reached downtown and was captured 50 metres from the square.
The puma is native to the Córdoba hills and avoids people. In years of hiking Uritorco, Los Terrones or Ongamira the norm is never to see one. If you do: do not run, make yourself big, back away slowly. What you will see are foxes, cavies, condors and, with luck, guanacos at Ongamira.
Can you drink the tap water?
Yes Mains water is potable. Since August 2025 the service is run by the Cooperativa Integral (Coopi) as "Aguas Capilla del Monte".
In summer and on long weekends there can be low pressure or cuts due to demand. On the mountain and trails there is no drinking water: carry your own, two to three litres per person, and do not drink from streams.
Is there mobile signal and WiFi?
It depends In town yes: 4G from Claro, Personal and Movistar, and free WiFi in San Martín square. On the mountain and trails, patchy or none.
On Uritorco, Los Terrones, Ongamira and the Quebrada de la Luna do not count on signal: download offline maps (Google Maps or Wikiloc) before leaving and tell someone your plan.
Is there a cinema?
Yes Yes, the Enrique Muiño Cinema Theatre at Deán Funes 526, with releases and cycles all year round.

It depends Nightclub yes: Moon, at Av. Bartolomé Jaime 2059, over 21s. Casino no.
Capilla nights are more about bars and live music on the Calle Techada and Diagonal Buenos Aires than clubs. In season there are folk peñas and shows; the events page has them. The nearest casino is in Villa Carlos Paz.

Yes Yes. Dr. Oscar Luqui Municipal Hospital, Sarmiento 452, 24-hour emergency room (03548 481082). Six pharmacies.
Medical emergencies 107, fire 100, police 101. Pharmacies: Bandini (Corrientes 132), Acerbi (Rivadavia 420), Beltrame Seia II (Av. Pueyrredón 880), VIGFarma (Diag. Buenos Aires 118, delivers), Punto Capilla (RN 38 km 82, daily 8 to 21) and Sánchez Antoniolli (RN 38). The on-duty one rotates and is posted on the board of any of them.
Is there a siesta? When do shops open?
Yes Yes, the siesta is real: most shops close from 1 pm to 4:30 or 5 pm and reopen until 9 pm.
Kiosks, ice-cream shops and restaurants stay open. Cordiez supermarket (Hipólito Yrigoyen 262): Monday to Saturday 8:30 to 13 and 16:30 to 21, Sundays 9 to 13. Post office: Corrientes 165, Monday to Friday 9 to 14.
