El Castillo del Cómic is an unusual museum housed in a historic 1905 mansion in the heart of Capilla del Monte. Inside, thousands of dolls, action figures, comic books, magazines, sticker albums, and collectibles fill several themed rooms: Star Wars, Disney, García Ferré characters, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and a medieval corner with tin soldiers and armor. It is considered one of the largest comic museums in Argentina and holds one of the most important collections in the region. A bit of history
The building was erected in 1905 by the Borgonovo family, originally from Rosario, and over the years it operated as the well-known Hostería Argentina (also remembered as Hotel Argentino). The museum was born from the passion of collector Hernán Doering, a native of Catamarca, who began collecting dolls and comics from a very young age. Doering bought the old mansion in 2014 and restored it to house his enormous collection. Together with his niece Daniela and her partner, Rafael, they turned it into a museum and opened it to the public in 2018. Today it brings together thousands of pieces (reported figures range from about 15,000 dolls and 3,000 magazines on display to total collections exceeding 33,000 pieces) distributed across six themed rooms inside a four-story mansion with a basement, thirteen bedrooms, and eleven bathrooms.
